Feature Friday: Fola!

Oddly enough, although we have not followed through on giving you your posts for the week (insert sad face..lol)  we do have our first Feature Friday of the year. Here we have Ms. Folasade, who in our opinion has a very keen eye for fashion. We had the pleasure of taking some of her time and capturing these amazing images as well as being asking her some questions about her style. So continue on throughout the post to find out more about Ms. Fola.     

As we can see she wore some skinny dark colored jeans, offset with a cream cardigan; lined with black trim and adorned with cute bows on the pocket. Underneath this cardigan she went with a scoop-neck cami bringing in the the lining from the cardigan. For shoes she has on some black flats, with a large colored bow at the front; which brings in the detail of the bow of the cardigan. She kept her accessories very simple, but they still made a statement with this outfit. She has on some pearl colored, flowered studs..a chain necklace with some added trinkets at the base of it..and amazing purple watch. Personally, we feel as though the watch brought in just the right amount of color for this look. 

Overall, she kept the look very simple and as you can see she has a very good eye for detail. Shown directly through her color selections as well as the little details that are noticed throughout the outfit.

Or you can take a few hints from Fola and how she so effortlessly put this look together. If you do the latter of the two be sure to give the girl her props!(lol) .............no really.


Now although it may seem as though it was a beautiful warm spring day, these pictures and video were caught right in the middle of our infamous winter days. Sun-shining, birds chirping but freezing with the intense blows from the wind. Throughout these conditions Fola was a doll to work with! She didn't back out or run from the challenge, she kept smiling and made it an amazing day for us. So for that we say thank you!






We took a different approach this year when it came to the interviews. We're giving you them to you on video. So along with this being our first feature friday of the year, Fola also gets to be our first video interviewee. Definitely make sure you tune in to the video and be sure to leave her or us a comment or two about the interview and her outfit!

Feature Friday: Summer Vacation

Feature Friday: Mariam!!

1. Do you think you have a unique style? 

~ No, not at all. I think style is influenced by something.

2. If yes, what's unique about it?

3. Describe your style.

~It kinda depends on how I am feeling that day. I mostly like to wear things that are comfortable and relaxed, but cute. I love jewelry, you can definitely add style or dress up any outfit. :-)

4. What would you wear on a casual day vs. a party?

~On a casual day, I would normally throw on some skinny jeans and cute top or a simple cotton dress if I am feeling flirty! For a party or evening look...I would probably wear a dressy blouse, shorts, and blazer with some heels. (Alrighttt!! Lol)

5. What 5 items of clothing are a must have for you if you were stuck on an island and why?

~Sunglasses, a pair of my favorite blue jean shorts, a tank top, a pair of sandals, and a big straw hat. I'm sure it would be super HOT , so I gotta stay cool. Lol.

6. What do you like to see the opposite sex wear?

~I love it when guys wear classy clothes like vests and button-up shirts and when they look sophisticated and clean cut! :-)

7. Do you look to anyone for style inspiration? If yes, who and why? 

~I can't say I look to anyone person individually, but I get fashion ideas from everyone. Store mannequins, friends, and magazines. I think it's important to switch it up. 

8. What is your favorite store to shop at and why?

~I really like shopping at TJMaxx. It's like a big closet were you can just throw things together. I also like to shop at Forever 21, especially for accessories.

9. Do you think alot of money is essential when it comes to style?

~I definitely don't think a lot of money is necessary when it comes to style. Money might make it more convenient, but it isn't necessary.

10. How do you feel about being on VintageMahogani's Feature Friday?

~OMG, I feel so honored for being chosen! You guys are so awesome and I really enjoyed the experience. Your blog is great and I can't wait to see what's next!

Feature Friday: Brent!

   Do you think you have a unique style?
-Sure! I think everyone has a unique style..
If yes, what's unique about it?
-Umm..let's see! What's unique about it....even if I see it on t.v. I put my own spin/"bravado" on it. Umm..it's how you carry yourself! I make the clothes, the clothes don't make me!

Describe your style.
-Skinny jeans are a necessity and snapback! It's hard to define, I guess urban. . . . just Brent swag!
What would you wear on a casual day vs a party?
-On a casual day, cargo shorts and a tank top (he been on the blog yall ;) lol)..For a party, skinny jeans and a button down!
What 5 items of clothing are a must have if you were stuck on an island and why?
-1: ForSure these RayBans (points to his Ray's..lol), I would like to see without squinting my eyes!
-2: A pair of black supras
-3: Maroon Chucks, so I can switch it up and look good for me, myself, and I.....I might even see some mermaids..so the maroon chucks are a must!
-4: No Shirt, of course....wouldn't want any tan lines....oh..i guess that wouldn't count..lol
(Alright.....let's try number four over again!...TAKE TWO)
-4: Cargo shorts
-5: A red g-shock, so I can see what time it is..
What do you like to see the opposite sex wear?
-My favorite right now, is the "harem pants" look and some heels.. anything that Irma LeAngela puts on..(lol naaww..he didn't say that) anything that Rihanna puts on, everything that she puts on she makes it look fly!
Do you look to anyone for style inspiration? If yes, who and why?
-There are men who have style and I can respect that, but I do not want to be anyone else but myself....but when I think of guys with style..Kanye West and Wiz Khalifa come to mind. I respect their style.
What is your favorite store to shop in and why?
-Thrift stores, but if it had to be in the mall: PacSun and Zumbies
Do you think a lot of money is essential when it comes to style? Why or why not?
-No, because some of the clothes on me right now I bought for 3 dollars! What can I say I'm a recent college grad! ;)
How do you feel about being selected to be on VintageMahogani's Feature Friday?
-This is AMAZING! It's my first time ever being shot for something like this, so I'm pretty STOKED!

Feature Friday: Lauren Mac!

1. Do you think you have a unique style?  Of course! Would you be interviewing me if I didn't? lol


2. If yes, what's unique about it?  I purposefully aim to be different. I hate cookie cutter fashion, so I try my hardest not to look like everybody else. Being fashionable is not about being dressed like the Forever 21 mannequin. There is an art to being fashionable. You have to practice it, just like you do any other art. Sometimes, my personal style is a beautiful masterpiece, sometimes it’s an elementary arts & craft project. But I take pride in saying that I did MY thing, not somebody else’s. 

3. Describe your style. I’m a creative person and I think my style definitely reflects that. I like to call my style, urban safari chic. I’m prone to mix eclectic pieces, with trendy items with a classic staple. You may catch me with a tribal print on, and some ornate piece of jewelry, paired with a graphic tee, and a tailored blazer. I love prints and I also collect a lot of African inspired jewelry. But at the same time, I love seersucker and linen. I like to stay current, but I don’t want to look back at pictures years from now and have to ask myself “What the heck did you have on Lauren” 


4. What would you wear on a casual day vs. a party? 

Glamour is my middle name. I love getting dressed up, so I have a closet full of dresses from boutiques in a variety of colors all with unique detailing. I might very well be the queen of the club dress.

Generally, I like to buy clothes that can be worn for both day & night. So a lot of my wardrobe can be dressed up with a pair of heels & jewelry, or dressed down with boots & a sweater. I may wear the same dress for both a daytime event and night time outing and it look completely different. 

5. What 5 items of clothing are a must have for you if you were stuck on an island and why? 

Just 5? I over pack for everything. I like to have options. 


1. My coral silk tunic. This is my favorite shirt in my wardrobe and wear it every chance I get. 2. My Ray Bands 3. My ripped up boyfriend jeans 4. My bright orange sundress 5. my BCBG bronze wedge sandals. 


6. What do you like to see the opposite sex wear?

I love men in tailored European cut suits. If I was a guy I’d be a in a suit every chance I got, top button undone, no tie. And on a casual day, I like to see men in solid color v-necks or a Henley and dark denim. Sheesh, the v-necks are my thing! I’m attracted to guys who are really into clothes and give me competition when it comes to fashion.

7. Do you look to anyone for style inspiration? If yes, who and why?

Of course. I like to mix the glamour and creativity of Beyonce’s style with the elegance and classic nature of Zoe Saldana. Every time I see them on television or online, I wish I could just snatch that dress off them and wear it. I’d love to raid either one of their closets.


8. What is your favorite store to shop at and why?


My favorite store hands down is Urban Outfitters. I love Urban because they have such a variety of clothes and styles, I can always find something that fits into my fashion aesthetic. And it’s rare that somebody will put together an identical outfit together from Urban. It keeps my look different.

I also shop heavily at Zara and H&M (when I am close to one) and I’m a huge fan of my local thrift stores.


9. Do you think a lot of money is essential when it comes to style? why or why not?

Money is definitely not essential, but it’s a perk. I do believe it’s quite possible to dress inexpensively and not look cheap though. I’m an avid thrift store shopper and I’ve found some of my favorite pieces of clothes at TJMaxx. I feel like I’m pretty well dressed already, if I was rich, you probably couldn’t tell me anything!



10. How do you feel about being selected to be on Vintage Mahogani 's Feature Friday ?

I was very excited when I was asked to do Feature Friday. I value Angie & Vonnie’s fashion sense and I was very flattered that they wanted to feature me. I love Vintage Mahogani and I’m anxious to see the buzz around the blog grow.

Feature Friday: Tarricke

1. Do you think you have a unique style?
• A unique style, no—a style based on mood, definitely. 

2. If yes, what's unique about it?
• Having a style that is based on mood best defines me, simply because I wear anything based on how I feel. I know how to dress it up or how to have a cargo and flip-flops kind of day.

3. Describe your style.
• My style after much consideration could best be described as ‘Modern Relaxed.’ I try to keep up to date with the latest trends and clothes—but not to copy what everyone else is wearing. I hate looking for bargains and long lines—I don’t mind paying that extra $ to get in and out of a store with exactly what I want. Why look around when you can get the real thing…right? Well, that’s me. (fans off the computer lol)

4. What would you wear on a casual day vs. a party?
• On a casual day, you can almost always find me in a v-neck from Gap or Banana with khaki or dark washed Jeans. I like the khaki jeans because you can dress up or dress down. To a party I will more likely have on either slacks with a blazer and buttoned down shirt, no tie. Or a Banana/Brooks Brothers blazer with jeans and loafers. 

5. What 5 items of clothing are a must have for you if you were stuck on an island and why?
• If I were stuck on an island and had to have 5 pieces of clothing…only. I would need: khaki pants, cargo shorts, orange v-neck, flip-flops and shades. 

6. What do you like to see the opposite sex wear?
• It’s appealing to my eye when girls wear blazers, shorts and heels…nothing underneath the blazer, have it buttoned with a bra…you get what I’m saying-and the red bottom shoes, I mean…It aint trickin’ if you got it, right? Have you seen that style around? Bring it back, bring it back…ayeee. Okay. (lol...dying laughing while secretly jammin')

 7. Do you look to anyone for style inspiration? If yes, who and why?
• No. I can’t say that I’ve been inspired by anyone for my style. I do go through catalogs monthly from Fossil, Michael Kors, Gap and Banana Republic. I then use a few of those ideas to determine a specific outfit or ‘mood change’.

8. What is your favorite store to shop at and why?
• If you know me, then you know I just can’t choose ONE store. I am a compulsive shopper, and I have come to terms with that. So, please don’t take anything I say to heart-I turn into @PHirstClaZZ when it comes to clothes and spending money. My top two stores would have to be Brooks Brothers and Carolina Herrera. Give me 5 grand and I promise it won’t be enough. (o_O we wish we had money like that...working on it though ;)

9. Do you think a lot of money is essential when it comes to style? why or why not?
• When it comes to style, in this day and age, ‘a lot of money’ is not a requirement. However, (don’t you just hate that)…for me, I will not shop for or buy anything if I know someone else on campus or close by will be wearing the same thing. Therefore, I tend to do my shopping either in Canada, Grand Cayman or Miami-so in short, money is essential if you want to have your thing and not be compared to anyone else. Or what I like to do is buy my clothing for full price at the Oklahoma Malls when they first hit shelves…wear it for a while then others will start wearing it a month or two later when I’ve already put it up. 

10. How do you feel about being selected to be on Vintage Mahogani 's Feature Friday ?
• I had tons of fun and am awaiting the Winter blogs. You guys are off to an amazing start! Keep it going. I had fun on the shoot and with the interview. Don’t take anything I have said to heart—I’m all about having fun, laughing and being carefree, the alter ego PHirstClaZZ might seem a bit non-chalant and snappy, but he means well. Have a blessed PHriday!

Feature Friday: Taylor

1. Do you think you have a unique style? No

2. If yes, what's unique about it? It's not unique, it just varies depending on how I feel that day. 

3. Describe your style..I'd say I have more of a themed style...Sometimes I want to look like Mrs.Kennedy, sometimes I want to look like a preppy girl, sometimes I want to look like I'm going to the governor's ball,... I might want to be that video vixen, it just depends on the day and what I'm going for.. 

4. What would you wear on casual day vs a party? Umm...once again it depends on how I wake up feeling that day, because sometimes when I go to a party I feel like I want to have a more classic look... With the pulled back bun and the heels and maybe just a basic colored dress and some poppin' red lipstick or something to make me stand out. Or I might wear the tight fitted pencil skirt with a cami or something, so it really just depends but I definitely go for more of the "sexy look" for the party and casual is more like a comfortable, cute...I would wear it in front of my mama.

5.What 5 items are a must have for you if you were stuck on an island? Why?

one: A North face Jacket

two: My Nike shorts

three: These pumps I have, just because I might want to be cute one day..

Four: A dress, just a simple sun dress nothing to fancy, but short

Five: Probably a sun hat, the big round straw sun hat

6.What do you like to see the opposite sex wear? I really like the skater-boy look with the chucks with either the straight leg jeans or some kind of cargo maybe with more like a graphic tee or colored shirt. ((She was definitely referencing: This Post!!))

7. Do you look to anyone for style inspiration? If yes, who? I look to everyone, I can't name anyONE person....

8.What is your favorite store to shop at? why? F21, it's cheap and it has what I like!

9. Do you think money is essential when it comes to style? Nope, not if you're a REAL shopper!

10. How do you feel about being selected to be on Vintage Mahogani's Feature Friday? I don't know.. I thought it was really tight, like I felt really special..but like when people ask me to do stuff like this i feel really cool, like tight like special..like "wow you really think so"... (lol..we get what you're saying ;)

Feature Friday: Candace

This week's Feature Friday is on Candace. Communications major and the reigning Ms. Black OU! For her Feature outfit, she went with a plain white tee, distressed peach colored shorts, and brown combat boots. As far as accessories, she went with grey socks to pop against her boots, gold hoop earrings, geek chic glasses, and a taupe fedora hat with a flower band.

1. Do you think you have a unique style? Yes.

2. If yes, what's unique about it? The thing that is unique about my style is that I like to have fun with the clothes I wear and think outside the box!

3. Describe your style. Some people say I have a bohemian type style. They also say I'm conservative, so I would say bohemian-conservative.

 

4. What would you wear on a casual day vs. a party? A good example would be Stompdown. It was a "casual-cute" event. I wore a blue fitted skirt and a peach colored top. For the party I put on a lace, kind of see through top to "step up" the sexy for a party.

5. What 5 items are a must have for you if you were stuck on an island? Why?  Things that I can mix and match. A tank top because it'll most likely be hot, shorts, a sweater, DEFINITELY skinny leg jeans, and some comfy sweats!

6. What do you like to see the opposite sex wear? I think different guys look good in different things. I don't think it's fair for me to say every dude should wear the preppy look or the edgy, skater boy look. It just depends on what compliments their body the best. If a guy knows his own personal style then that's what's the most attractive. As long as he looks good by my side. [ YOU BETTER SAY THAT MS. BLACK OU! ]



7. Do you look to anyone for style inspiration? If yes, who? Yes. I look to everyone for style inspiration. From the mannequins in Forever 21 to people walking on the South Oval.

8. What is your favorite store to shop at? why? I don't really have one favorite but Forever 21 or Charlotte Russe. You can get the $5.00 skirts or cute shirts for $9.50.

9. Do you think money is essential when it comes to style? No. I feel like I have style and I don't have alot of money. Lol. 

10. How do you feel about being selected to be on Vintage Mahogani's Feature Friday? I feel honored to know that people are interested in my style and think I have one because sometimes I wonder if I

can actually dress..lol. To be featured on a site where Beyonce, Jayz, Chris Brown, and Jennifer Lopez have too, is an honor.

Feature Friday: Charles

This week for our first official feature Friday, we were able to steal some time away from  Charles. If you know the guy, you know that he has quite the personality! So read up on how he defines his style and look at how he put this outfit together!..You guys out there may be able to take a few tips from him!
He did some black-washed denim jeans from express, brown distressed belt, a grey long-sleeved v-neck, a grey/black tweed vest, and for shoes..his favorite: Red Low-top Chuck Taylor's (Taylor Gang!!.lol)

1. Do you think you have a unique style? Charles: Uhhh, Yeah!. 

2. If yes, what is unique about it? Charles: I purposely try to do things that other people aren't doing..and I like to take certain things that people are doing and do the opposite.

3. Describe your style? Charles: I’d say, different..a little bit of everything mixed in together.

4. What would you wear on a casual day versus a party? Charles: On a casual day I’d probably just wear, some jeans, a V-neck, and some regular shoes.

5. What 5 items of clothing are a must have if you were stuck on an island? Why? Charles:1. Red chucks 2. My cargo pants 3. V-neck 4. Jean Jacket 5.Watch..Simply because those are 5 items that you can put on together or wear with anything.

6. What do you like to see the opposite sex wear? Charles: Off the shoulder shirts and nice lil skirt or some jeans.

7. Do you look to anyone for style inspiration? If yes, who? Charles: Yeah, Chris Brown..easy..Mainly because we have the same body type, and around the same height.

8. What is your favorite store to shop in? Why? Charles: American Eagle, because believe it or not the clothing is very diverse. However, a lot of people don’t think so and for the most part they’re right, but with my sense of style, I’m able to take the clothing and make it diverse. 

9. Do you think a lot of money is essential when it comes to style? Charles: Nope! Not if you know where to shop!

10. How do you feel about being selected to be on Vintage Mahogani's Feature Friday? Charles:I feel honored, because I know you guys are going to do great things and are going places
