Swimsuits!!

Well ladies...judging from the title of the post, you can see that today's post will be about swimsuits. What about swimsuits you ask...well we thought we make this post as useful as possible and make it over the right swimsuit for your body type. We know it's hot outside and the 4th of July is coming up...so this is the perfect time to do this post so it'll give you time to purchase a swimsuit or two! So sit back, relax, take notes, and go out and buy your perfect swimsuit!

Body Type 1: Small on the top

If you are small on the top...meaning small cup size.. you can do one of these swimsuit top styles:
  •  A swimsuit top with fringe or ruffles. Fringe and ruffles with give the illusion that you have something up top.
  • A swimsuit top with a touch of padding. Maybe try one that is printed so it can take away from the look of padding.
  • A swimsuit top with under-wire or a banded bottom to give you a lift to add cleavage.
  • A swimsuit top with adjustable straps at the shoulders and or/ around the neck. You can adjust them to lift things up and add cleavage as well.
  • A bandeau top will look great as well since you have a small bust.. Find one with a little padding and a print.
Here are some swimsuit links :

Body Type 2: Full up Top

  • An under-wire swimsuit top. These tops give you support and lift just like a bra.
  • A swimsuit top with a banded halter. These type of tops give you support and coverage and can be less obvious than under-wire.
  • A thick strap halter swim top. These tops secure your chest. Thin string/straps can accentuate your top in an unflattering way, almost as if you're popping out.
  • A V-Neck One piece. These swimsuits accentuate your top half because they show off the right amount of cleavage versus covering them up and making you look really top heavy.
Here are some swimsuit links for your type of suggested swimsuits:

One-Piece Halter Swimsuit <---- Self-Tie Halter to tighten or loosen for support. V-Neck to provide cleavage.
Push-Up Banded Halter and Matching Bottoms <---- Removable padding so you wont add more up top. The banded halter is wide for added support.
Push-Up Bandeau Top and Bottoms <---- Removable padding. Under-wire to provide support.

Body Type 3: A Bit of a Tummy

  • One-Piece swimsuits with ruching are great! The ruching  camouflages whatever you have to hide and the detailing takes away from it.
  • Belted One-Piece. A belted one-piece will cinch the waist and creates a the illusion of an hourglass figure.
  •  If you want to do a two-piece swimsuit, try a tankini. The top will hide whatever you want. Make sure it's not too short or too tight because that could be unflattering.
  • Black. Black can be slimming. So try a tankini in black or a one-piece in black. With some embellishing up top to take away from the mid-section.
  • Bold florals and prints take attention away from the mid-section.
  • Vertical and diagonal stripes are best. They elongate your figure. Stay away from horizontal stripes because they can make you look wide.
Here are some suggested swimsuits:

Push -Up Halter Tankini and Bottom <---- Come in black. Tankini to cover-up mid-section. Back Detailing to take away from front.
Zebra Print Tankini <---- Bold print. Contrasted Empire Waistband to cinch in the waist.
Ruched One-Piece <---- Ruching  camouflages whatever you would like to hide and takes away from it as well.

Body Type 4: Big Bottom

  • A swimsuit with a plunging neckline. This type of one-piece will bring attention up top and balance you out.
  • A swimsuit with a darker bottom and lighter top. The darker bottom will give you a slimming effect and the lighter top will bring attention up top.
  • A Low-Cut bottom. This type of bottom can slim you down a bit versus a high-rise bottom that can ride up and give you wedgie.
  • Avoid boy shorts. The can make your bottom look bigger.
Here are some links to suggested swimsuits:

Wireless Push-Up Monokini <---- One-Piece with a plunging neckline. Jewel Trim at hips, kind of low-rise to slim the bottom.
Low-Rise Bottom and Top <---- Low-Rise to slim the bottom and you an mix the top and bottom to do a darker bottom and lighter top.
Cut-Out Ruffle Monokini <---- Plunging neckline and ruffle detailing up top to take attention from bottom. Low-rise bottom to also slim you.

Body Type 5: Lean Figure

Few things are off limits for people with lean figures. Anything goes to accentuate your lean figure or give you curves.

  • Swimsuits with horizontal stripes can make you look wider if you want to add some curves.
  • Boy-Shorts bottoms. These bottoms can make you look like you have somewhat of a booty.
  • Light colors and small prints. Since you're lean/petite you want dainty prints and colors so you are not "over-powered".
  • Ruffles and Fringe/Frills will add more volume up top, bottom, or both wherever that detailing is.
  • Regular string bikinis. These look great since you are so lean if you you want to show it off.
Here are some suggested swimsuits:

We hope that we gave you some helpful insight on swimsuits for your specific body type. If we left any out that you were wondering about, let us know and we'll inbox you information and suggestions!! :-)

Summer Essential#1 for Men: Tanks!

We know it's getting HOT outside and summertime is eventually coming up, so like we said yesterday, we'll be giving the fellas 3 summer essentials (in no particular order) over the next 3 weeks; and of course we'll be giving you tips/suggestions on how to wear these essentials in a few different ways. So sit back, relax, read up, and then go out and buy these items! Lol.

Summer Essential #1: Tanks

When we say tanks, we don't mean wife-beaters, although the sun is beastin' and you might just feel like wearing one alone. The type of tank we mean has color to it or sometimes even print and is considered clothing and not an "undershirt:". So we chose 3 males (Chris Brown, Wiz Khalifa, and Ryan Gosling) that are quite fashionable and rock the tank look to show you guys examples of how to wear them.

Look 1: Tank and Cargos

Look 1 comes from Wiz Khalifa. For his photoshoot with Dub Magazine , Wiz wore a grey tank top with black writing on it, cargo pants, and of course he had to keep it "Taylor Gang" with the red, high top chucks. He just went with some simple black sunglasses and watch to complete the look. So below we'll give you a couple tips on how to recreate the outfit, make your own, and of course cater the outfit to the weather.

Let's start out with this Black Graphic Tank from Pacsun and pair it with these Olive Rothco Cargo Shorts. For shoes, go ahead and keep it "Taylor Gang"..lol. with a pair of Red High-Top Chuck Taylors. Instead of the sunglasses you could do these Black Framed Retro Clear Lens Glasses. Another option for the tank and cargo shorts is this White Graphic Tank and a pair of Black Cargo Shorts. For shoes, make the outfit stand out with these Yellow High-Top Chuck Taylors. Keep the glasses and you're set!

Okay...moving right along to look number #2....Ryan Gosling wearing his tank with black slim fit/ skinny jeans.

As seen to the left, Ryan Gosling (guy from The Notebook) is wearing a printed white/green printed tank with black skinny jeans. For shoes, he has on something similar to Toms. To recreate this outfit, start with this Bob Marley color themed tank also from Pacsun. For bottoms, instead of the black skinny jeans, try these Light Grey Chino Pants with a pair of  Charcoal Chambray Cordones - Toms. Another route you could go with the chino pants are to do this Blue Striped Ambiguous Tonti Tank with a the same chino pants except in the Taupe/Peachy color. Do a lighter pair of shoes like these Taupe/Blue Tree Block Espadrille Shoes.

Last but not least, tip/look #3 comes from blog favorite, Chris Brown. He is seen in 2 different printed tanks but both are paired with denim jeans.
In the picture on the left side, Chris Brown has on a New York Knicks fitted with a USA navy blue graphic tank. For bottoms, he just went with a pair of denim jeans and cuffed them and. As for shoes, he has on Nike Zoom Huarache Sneakers. In the picture on the right, he has on a printed navy tank representing the American flag. Again, he paired it with denim jeans and this time he went with white high top sneakers. To recreate this outfit, begin with this Printed "Freedom Ride" Tank and throw on these Grey Straight Leg Jeans. For shoes do a pair of these Nike Dunks customized with Ink Blue, Neo- Turquoise, Green Spark, and White. Hat wise you could do this Black Chicago Bulls Snapback (just a suggestion...whatever team you prefer..lol). Another alternate to the denim with the printed tank would be to do a jean jacket instead of denim jeans. Start out with this Green Graphic Tank and pair it with this Levi Jean Jacket. For pants do these Levi Tan/Khaki Carpenter Jeans and put on a pair of Ivory Vans for the shoes!

Well fellas...I hope you guys thoroughly enjoyed this post, because we sure enjoyed writing and researching it for you! We also hope that it was informative and at this time you're grabbing your keys and wallet to go out and get these tank looks. ;-) Lol

Tips Tuesdays: Fedora Hats!

This week's tip is going to be over how to wear a Fedora hat, casually and dressy of course. I know we've all seen them worn by celebrities and just normal people like you and I. We're getting style inspiration from  blog favorite, Rihanna. Throughout the post, you'll be observing what she puts with her different fedora hats and how versatile they really are!

Look 1: Casual Fedora Look

In the picture to the right Rihanna is seen wearing her fedora hat with a cow print screen tee, denim high waisted shorts, a taupe sweater wrap, and oxford shoes. As far as accessories she kept it simple. Even though she has on both a necklace and earrings, both are simple as far as "gaudiness"; the earrings are big, but the necklace is simple. This look would be considered casual, and could be worn to the mall or just a simple lunch with friends. You could even wear this on campus. We know summer is almost here and it's hot outside, so we will help you recreate the outfit to cater to the weather! :-)

Let's start with this Basketweave Fedora with Trim in the natural color from Forever21. You could pair it with this White and Black Cropped Peace Tee and Classic Cuffed Denim Shorts. For shoes you can do these pair of Grey Leatherette Wingtip Shoes. As far as accessories go, keep it simple with these Gold Twisted Hoop Earrings. Do this Gold and Multi-Colored Umbrella Charm Necklace and Gold and Coral Oval Shield Ring to give the outfit a simple pop of color.

If you wanted to make the outfit pop in the form of clothing instead of accessories you could this pair of Red, Frayed Denim Shorts. For accessories do this Silver Hinge Feather Pendant Necklace, Silver Layered Hoop Earrings, and Silver Bangles. Keep the same shoes and you're on your way!

Here Rihanna is (to the right) in another casual outfit with her fedora hat. She is wearing a printed romper with jeweled sandals and few accessories (studs, sunglasses and bracelets).

To achieve this simple look you could start with this Bronze/Black Basketweave Fedora also from Forever21. For a romper just do this Black Basic Tube Top Romper and pair it with these sandals 1 , 2 (or if you're feeling "fancy"): 3. Keep it simple with your accessories but also have fun with them. We suggest you do these Black Flower Stud Earrings out of the studs set and Wild Side Animal Print Bangles.

If you wanted to do a dressier version of this outfit you could do this Black Lace Racerback Jumper with a pair of these Black Floral Lace Heels to keep the lace theme. For accessories, pair this Black/Gold Snap Button Braided Bracelet  with a pair of Gold Chain Link Hoop Earrings.

Look 2: Dressy Fedora Look

For the dressy fedora look, we're taking inspiration from this outfit of hers with a printed bustier/corset type top tucked into a pair of cream and black polka dot shorts. For shoes, you can see she paired her outfit with nude, studded Louboutins (apparently she was feeling fancy..lol). As far as accessories go she has on gold doorknocker earrings and layered gold bangles. We're going to tell you how to get a similar look that you can be comfortable in as far as prints but we'll throw some pieces in there for you to wear if want to be "expressive" with your outfit that day! :-)

Start out with this Tan Basketweave Fedora with Floral trim  (seen worn by MBOU Candace Jordan )from Forever21. You can pair it with this Purple Ruched Chiffon Corset Top from Charlotte Russe. For bottoms you can do these Flared Floral Shorts or if you're feeling "expressive" ..lol...like we said, you can do this pair of Peach/Nude Tiered Lace Shorts. As far as shoes, both pair of shorts would look great with a pair of nude heels, whether they're Strappy, Peep Toe , or a Regular Pump! For accessories, go ahead and do like rihanna with a Large Pair of Gold Earrings and layer bangle set 1 and 2!

Hopefully we gave you some helpful tips on all the different ways you can wear your fedora hats and we hope to see you rocking similar outfits to the ones we've advised you on! :-)

Wednesday's Tip for guys: Plain Tees

It's Wednesday...so you know what that means...a tip for the fellas! You know how it goes..the ladies got a tip on how to incorporate a plain tee in their wardrobe, so now you will as well! EVERYONE knows how versatile a plain tee can be, it can go a long way, meaning it can be dressed up or worn casually!

Let's start with casual. To the left, you see Chad Ochocinco in a purple V-Neck Tee, with a white "wife beater" layered under. For pants he went with Grey Jeans and shoes he just put on some white sneaks! He kept the outfit very, very simple but made it stand out with a splash of color as far as the purple v-neck goes. This also goes to show guys can still look good and masculine in "feminine" colors. Summer is coming up, (thank God for no more rainy, cold weather)so if one wanted to make a simple outfit like this stand out that caters to the weather they could do the following: A Charcoal Grey Tee or even this Dark Navy tee that has a "grayish" tint to it, a white wife beater layered under, a pair of brightly colored Cuffed Docker Shorts , and some White Canvas Sneakers or for a "preppy look some White Sperry Boat Shoes . One could also pair a Black V-Neck Tee with a pair Utility Green Cargo Shorts and some Tan High Top or Low Top Chuck Taylors. Just a few options of how to make the casual outfit pop if you want to add some color to the subtle/casual pieces.

Moving right along, we have Usher in a more "Casual-Dressy" look as far as wearing a plain tee. He has on a Heathered Mocha-Colored Tee, with a Olive Green Button Up layered on top, brown belt, Light Wash Jeans, and Tan/Mocha High Top Sneakers . The outfit is pretty casual as far as the tee, jeans, and shoes but the layering of the button up sorta gives it a dressy feel to it.If you wanted to re-create this outfit and kind of make it your own regarding color, you could do a Green Heathered Tee layered underneath a Black Button Up -1 , 2,  these Turbo Wash Jeans, and something like these Grey/Black Supra Skytop Sneakers. Also, if you wanted to switch it up and do a print button up you could do this Blue and Black Buffalo Plaid Shirt , Onyx Charcoal Heathered V-Neck,  paired with some Grey Jeans , and Shoe 1 , 2 , or 3.

Here again we have Usher showing us a different way to wear a plain tee, the dressy way. He is seen here in a plain black tee, charcoal gray blazer with black trim, and charcoal gray jeans. He went ahead and paired it with some black lace-up combat boots. This is a look similar to Justin Timberlakes' blazer outfit in the "Blazers for Men" post. This look is really easy/effortless to achieve. If you wanted to make it stand out and "your own" you could change the colors up like so: A Light Gray Cotton Shirt Jacket , a White V-Neck Tee, Dark Indigo Colored Jeans, and Black Combat Boots. To make the outfit/colors stand out try the following: Striped Steel Gray Cotton Shirt Jacket, Ruby V-Neck Tee, Light Gray Jeans , and the Black Combat Boots of course! .....(P.S.... As a girl, I just went and bought this outfit for myself...lol.)

Hopefully through these 3 different looks of dressing a plain tee up and down, you got some insightful information as well as, inspiration for an outfit. These looks are really easy to achieve..so go for it! :-)

Tips Tuesday: Plain Tees!

It's getting warmer, (well it should be o_O) so we thought we would give you some tips on what to wear with your plain tees. Now, if there's one thing that just about everyone has in their wardrobe..it's the plain tee! Whether it's: white, orange, purple, or taupe, it can never fail you. It's very versatile, allowing you to look very causal or it can be dressed up quite simply.

To your left, Jennifer Hudson has on a grey plain tee, a black cropped jacket, some cut-off jean shorts, and some chunky metallic heels. Going with the simplicity of her tee, she kept the rest of her outfit on that same level. Simple. To recreate this outfit and make it your own, it's quite...you guessed it: simple! To do so there are a few options. The first being that you could take it, to the ultimate casual level.
You could take a grey tee, as Jennifer did and instead of the black jacket you could do some type of black chunky necklace. As far as bottoms, jean bermuda shorts (considering the weather) would be just fine. Perhaps throw in a tan belt, and for shoes do something bold, printed, or something to add to the casualness of the outfit; such as: these, them, or this! If you wanted to jazz this outfit up a little, you could do some wild bangles to add some color!

Jennifer Lopez on the other hand, took her plain tee and took it a small step above just causal. She still kept it quite simple however, the heels and the accessories push it more in the direction of dressy. As you can see, the picture seems to be a bit outdated; however that by no means mean that we can't take some ideas from this outfit. A loose fitting light colored tee, some boyfriend jeans*, and strappy heels really make for an outfit to run around town in. To make this look a bit more acceptable to party in, we suggest that you pair your plain tee/top with some form fitting jeans, and keep with the strappy heels; such as: that, those, or they (lol)! You know we L.O.V.E. to throw in some color, so just like the suggestions above with j.hud's outfit you could do some colored bangles, or a large colorful ring!

Either way you wear your plain tee it is without a doubt going to be cute. Just remember to keep it on the simple side of things when it comes to the rest of the outfit. Or even try spicing it up with some bold accessories or shoes!

*we couldn't find any boyfriend jeans online..if you just take a loose fitted pair from your boyfriend/brother/dad..lol and cuff the bottoms you should be able to make it work. Throw a belt around your waist and go! ;)

Tips Tuesday: Old School Week!!

This week we thought we'd do a fun theme as far as tips. We chose the theme of incorporating an old school/retro piece in your wardrobe this week, how to do it, and examples of how to show you how. Everyone should know by now that the 90s and 80s were probably the best decades of our lives..lol. The fashion back then was really fun too. Very carefree and bright colored clothing, gaudy accessories, and yesss for the shoes! Lol..For the ladies we decided on 3 different old school pieces/looks to suggest for incorporating in your wardrobe this week: Harem pants, "The Madonna Look", and Big Reader/Geek Chic glasses.

Piece 1: Harem Pants

Harem pants were big back when McHammer came out with can't touch this, they were know as hammer pants back then. Recently, they have come back with a vengeance and are really popular amongst celebs and "regular" people like you and I. Harem pants can be very versatile as far as dressing them up and dressing them down. We will show you a casual outfit and how to achieve the same look.

Our harem pants look is brought to you by Rihanna of course! As seen in the picture she has on black harem pants paired with a black and white striped tank tucked. For shoes, she kept it simple with plain black pumps. This outfit is very SIMPLE and easy to achieve; it could even be considered casual. If you wanted to make this outfit pop, you could put on some brightly colored pumps and layer some necklaces. We're posting some links to give you a different color/version of the outfit to make it your own!

Outfit Option 1: Tan Harem Pants  , Red Cami , Smoke Leopard Heels , Bronze and Black Necklace, Black/Bronze/Gold Bangles

Outfit 2:
Grey Harem Pants, Pink and Grey Leopard Print Tank, Black Suedette Pumps, Silver Hoops, Silver Bangles , and to make the outfit pop... Bright Pink Clutch !

Piece 2: The Madonna Look

Back in the 80s the "Madonna look" was in! She was known for wearing a sheer/ lace corset type top with a layered skirt. She brought more attention to the outfit by layering a lot of pearl necklaces. If one were to try to go for this look, it would look best at a party of some type of event at night. To achieve a modern day version of this look you could pair a cute fitted skirt or even harem pants! If you do this, keep the bottoms simple. For instance, you could do a black lace corset like top with black harem pants. For accessories, of course the layered necklaces and maybe some printed or brightly colored pumps to make the outfit pop!

Outfit Option 1: Black Satin Corset, Harem Pants, Printed Pumps, and layered necklace!
Outfit Option 2: Lace Corset, Jean Jacket(roll up the sleeves , Fitted Skirt, Bright Heels, and layered chains!

Piece 3: Big Reader/ "Geek Chic Glasses"

This is one of my favorite accessories to wear. They are so versatile and can be worn with anything...if you wear them right. They can be worn with a casual outfit like distressed jeans, plain tee, and maybe some high top chucks. Here we have Leona Lewis wearing her glasses effortlessly. She wore them with a black shirt, with a black blazer over top of it. For bottoms, she wore a black and white stripped skirt and black platform heels.

So here are a few links, for some of the ever popular geek chic glasses: Option 1 and two

Tips Tuesday: Vests!!

Last week's tips over blazers had the highest views out of every post we've done! So hopefully you guys will enjoy this one even more!

Since it's getting a little warmer outside we thought vests would be a perfect thing to cover this week. It's still considered outerwear but you can still wear it and not be hot. Vests can be worn so many different ways and there are several different styles of them. We will of course cover dressing them up and down and give you links to get the look without "breaking the bank".

For the casual vest look, we went with Ciara. Ciara kept her vest look simple and casual with the denim vest and black knit dress. As far as accessories, she tried to make it stand out a little with a silver necklace and multiple black and silver bangles. Her black silver studded platform heels gave the casual outfit some sass. The outfit can be worn on a lunch date with the beau or your girls and even shopping..(e.g. the picture of Ciara). Her look can be really easy to achieve and is probably one of the easiest looks and cheapest buys we've suggested thus far! :-)

Black Platform Sandals to spice the outfit up 1 , 2 , 3

For Zoe's vest look...she went with a more dressy outfit. She is wearing a gray/black vest with a white cami like top layered underneath, and gray knee length shorts. As far as accessories, she kept it simple with a brown leather belt, a layered gold chain necklace, and a black clutch. For shoes, she has on black peep toe lace up booties. She is also showing an example of how to wear the menswear look as a female. This outfit is a simple dressy look that can be achieved with few pieces.

Menswear Textured Vest

Belted Long Shorts
Go shorter with these menswear inspired shorts 1 , 2 ,

Colored Jeans for Guys!

I know what you're thinking..colored jeans and guys don't mix, but actually the trend has become big amongst celebrities like Lil Wayne and the New Boyz. They've been seen wearing colored jeans and graphic tees and the style looks really good on them! The fact that they are bold enough to wear them says alot about their confidence and individuality, as far as not letting what others think or say affect how they feel or what they wear.
Wayne performing in red skinny jeans,
white tee, black and white plaid vest,
a fedora hat, and red high top sneakers.

As seen in the picture featuring Lil Wayne, he has on red skinny jeans, a graphic tee, vest, and fedora hat. This would be considered a preppy or even rock look to some but he still brings hip hop swag to the outfit.

The New Boyz lookin' fresh in colored and
print jeans paired with graphic tees.

In this picture, the New Boyz have on skinny colored jeans and even printed skinny jeans. With the green skinny jeans he has on a graphic tee but it's pretty plain with just words going across the front. The other has on zebra print jeans and a blue graphic tee. This outfit stands out a little bit more with more print and color but still looks really good together.

FRESH!

All in all, wearing these jeans as a guy you might get some wierd looks but if your confidence level is high and you don't care what others think then that's all that matters. I mean...even the Fresh Prince wore colored/printed jeans and he stayed fly; and let's all face it...those days were the best!

Trendsetting Thursday: jean shorts!

Summer is quickly approaching and there are a few essentials that you can not survive without when it comes to your wardrobe. Jean shorts are one of these essentials and today we just want to give you some ideas when it comes to wearing them. As shown in this first picture of Rhianna, she kept it very simple and causual when it came to her jean shorts. Pairing it with an oversized white button up shirt definitely allowed the simplicity of this outfit to come alive. She made sure to go overboard with her accessories with this outfit, but in doing so it didn't take away from it at all.

The second picture gives you a look at some jean shorts on more of the dressed up side. Pairing these jean shorts with an oversized pastel pink blazer and peep toe pumps gives them a totally different feel compared to the first outfit.

So all in all, these two outfis shown here give you a few ideas when it comes to wearing your essential jean shorts this upcoming summer! =)
