Spring Break Special 3

Justice for Trayvon Martin still needs to occur! Be sure that your name is on the petition and check locally for any movements or rallies! If you are from Oklahoma in the Norman area we know for sure that  there are a few occurring and we have planned one to occur very soon. Be on the look out for them all, and be sure to get involved as much as possible for such an important movement.

If you are an avid reader of our blog, male or female you are well aware of the fact that we feature this one celebrity quite a bit. Check Rihanna off the list as well as T.I. leaving us with very limited options. Don't know the answer? Well check out the picture below if you haven't done so already.

Chris Brown

If you didn't guess this one, then we're guessing you don't visit the blog often. Chris has made numerous appearances on the blog, and just like his ex. more than likely you'll continue to see him here.

He has quite an appealing style; one that we obviously agree with. He keeps it chill, yet still very well put together. Now there have been a few times that we haven't quite been on the same page..((cue picture from b.e.t. awards 2011 performance outfit)) -___-

Moving right along, to our right we have Mr.Breeze in some dark washed jean shorts. aztec printed cardigan.turquoise vans. and a fitted. Now some of you may not like this look, but we think it's the perfect look to run to store in or to hang out with some friends. Not the best for the next pageant, but perhaps for a party or two. Either way it goes, CB is looking quite stylish in our opinion. 

Alright, let's get into something that you fellas can replicate. As you can see he has on a graphic tee, acid wash jeans, pair of sunny's, and some nikes. This is one of those looks that are always going to be around. It's simple yet it has enough flare to it to catch someone's eye. Also, all of the pieces can be incorporated with another look withe ease. To dress this up, you could either take a nice blazer or a good quality bomber. We wanted to give you a few options for this look so check them out below.

And there you have it, something that is very versatile and easy to put together. Perfect look for these semi cool-warm days out there in the spring.

Last but not least, we wanted to dress it up a bit for his final look. We started with a chill look, went to more of a casual.. now let's look at a dressy look from Chris. Seen below, he is wearing a modern fit jacket and pant. Modern in the sense that it is not baggy and smothering him in fabric. This was obviously a runway look that he was put in for a fashion show. However, this is something that could be translated to our world such as for a dinner party or an upscale event. 

We love that the stylist went with two different color fabrics for the jacket and pant. The cut and style of the suit makes it very high class. While the hues give it that stylish flare. We suggest that if you are going to do something similar that you know what you are doing. You may end up with an odd look, if it is not put together correctly.

Fall Essential 2 for the Fellas!

Okay fellas...this evening we are giving you Fall Essential #2 ...button-ups! In case you missed Fall Essential #1 here is the link -----> F.E. #1- Men. Button-ups are a very important fall essential and one of the most versatile pieces of clothing one can own in general. They can be layered, dressed up, or dressed down and they come in all different prints, styles, and colors! With that being said...let's jump right into the post!

Okay look #1 comes from VintageMahogani. favorite Chris Brown. He gives us a casual look with a plaid flannel/button-up shirt. He is seen to the right in a navy/grey/red plaid flannel shirt with a plain white tee layered underneath. As far as bottoms, he has on a pair of dark denim jeans and then he threw on a pair of gray lo top chucks. Simple and very easy to achieve. 

To achieve this look, start with something like this Blue/Red/White Flannel Shirt from Urban Outfitters. Then you can go ahead and layer this plain V-Neck Tee underneath in either Charcoal or White. As far as bottoms and shoes go...try something like these Dark Denim Levis and then go with these Red Lo-Top Chucks  or Red High Top Chucks whichever you prefer.

As far as the versatility of this button up...to take it to the dressy-casual side all you would really have to change are the bottoms and shoes. For bottoms, you can do this pair of Chino Pants in Grey and do a pair of Tan Woven Sperry's. 

Moving right along to look number 2!....

All we can say when we look to the left at this outfit is YESSSSS!!! Lol... It's so simple and clean cut but we L-O-V-E it!! Omarion is seen to the left in a dressy-casual outfit with his button-up shirt. Now...he didn't go with plaid or a flannel button up, he did a denim button up which is one of our favorite clothing items! He paired his dark denim button-up with a pair of khaki pants belted with a dark brown belt and went with a pair of navy/mocha oxfords! 

To get a look similar to Omarion's start with this Dark Denim Button Up from Urban Outfitters and pair it with these Khaki Trousers also from Urban. Slightly tuck your shirt in and grab a dark tan or brown belt and belt those pants! For shoes...do something like these Dark Tan/Black Oxford Shoes. YOUR LOOK IS NOW COMPLETE...SIMPLE HUH?

Now if you wanted to do a casual look with a denim shirt, try this Lighter Denim Button-Up Shirt. Then layer a white v-neck tee underneath, for bottoms you can do the first pair of dark denim jeans listed in the first tip. (Two denim items does work together if you do one light and one extremely dark)...or if you wanted to..you could do something similar to this pair of colored Orange Trousers. For shoes...depending on what bottoms you did..you can do these Blue/Orange/Black Sneakers  or if you went with the orange trousers do the same shoes in the Khaki color. 

Moving on to our last Button-Up look....

Our last button-up look comes from Diddy...he's showing how to do a completely dressy outfit with a button-up. 

He just went with a plain reddish orange button up and paired white pants with it, which looks really clean-cut and crisp. For shoes, he put on a pair of...what looks like brown..it may be black. lol...loafers. SIMPLE RIGHT?

To achieve this same/similar look, we suggest you go somewhere like Express. They are one of many places that have great dress clothes for men. Start with this Modern Fit Dress Button Up from there in whatever color you prefer, but for now we'll just go with the "Radiant Rose"/ Purple color. For dress pants, you can do these Modern Fit Dress Pants in the "Cast Iron"/Dark Gray color, belt them, and just do a pair of black dress shoes. 

Now there is still versatility with a plain dressy button up as well. If you wanted to do a pair of jeans with your button up and still keep it dressy casual, do the same button up in the Bionic Blue color. Then layer this Heather Gray LAMBSWOOL Double Breasted Cardigan over it. We know it may be a little pricey but the sweater is EXTREMELY NICE! Then you can put a tie with it like this Solid Black Silk Tie . For bottoms, make sure you do a dark jean...basically black and to complete the look you can do these Light Grey Oxfords from Urban Outfitters.

Stripes for men!

Alright men, just to let y'all know finding some celeb men out there with stripes was quite the task. However this shows that if you do wear them you are taking a step out on a limb! So if you're wanting to be one of those men that take some risk, check out the tips below on how to pull off stripes.

Considering that there was not many options for examples, we're going to give you two different looks for stripes. We'll show you some causal and dressy ideas.

First we're going to take a look at both Jay-Z and Drake below. Drake is seen wearing a long-sleeved black and white striped shirt. Along with shirt he has on dark-washed loose-fitting jeans. To make the red logo pop on his shirt he has on red Jordans...
     Now, let's take a look at Jay-Z's outfit. Very similar to Drake's yet there are a few accessories that give his outfit a different look. Jay-Z has on a white and black short-sleeved shirt with some khaki colored cargo pants. He gave his outfit more of a relaxed look by adding the navy blue snap back, and his long rope chain. For shoes it looks like he went with some all-white Adidas like shoes.  Both looks are very simple, but they really work well on both men. Drake's look is one that can possibly be pulled off at certain events, where as Jay-Z's outfit looks like one that he just put together to go kick it in. Now that you've seen how they wear their stripes causally, let's look at a few clothing options that will give you similar looks.

You could try this navy and grey striped top, to give you your stripes. For bottoms you could go either way; you could do some cargos like Jay-Z did or some loose fitting dark washed jeans. Either option will work out great with this striped top. Considering that the colors for this shirt are pretty muted a bright colored shoe would bring some life to this outfit. You could try these red lace-up espadrilles, or these dark green keds.. those are just some options, what we're really trying to get at, is that if you go with a muted color up-top a pop of color is what you should go with for shoes.

sidenote: This same look can be applied for a summer outfit. This would be done by, wearing a striped tank with either some cargo or jean shorts. For shoes you can go with a pair that was listed above. 

Moving right along to blog favorite: Chris Brown. Seen to the left he has on an outfit that he wore to court, which translates to something that would be acceptable to any upscale type event. He has on a light blue button up, a navy blue tie, and for his stripes he has on a light knit cardigan. We don't have a great view of what he has on for bottoms, but we're guessing some dark washed denim. For his shoes, we think that some classic black chuck taylors would bring this outfit together.

For yourself, you could take any color button-up but for the cardigan that we're going to suggest a white one will be great. On top of your button-up, try this grey/white cardigan. A solid black tie, would work out great with these two pieces. SN: Depending on the event that you are attending deciding if you should tuck your shirt in or out is up to you. For bottoms these jeans or this pair of khakis would be great options. To keep with the dressy look of this outfit, go with some shoes similar to these all black canvas saddle shoes.
-Remember to keep those cardigans light, it's HOT out there!

For our final tips we're going to look to Mr.George Clooney. As you can see he has on a pin-stripped button-up underneath a suit jacket. These type of stripes are for those that want to bring a little flare to their outfit while still being professional. This is going to be the most commonly seen use of stripes in a males wardrobe. When you do pin-stripes more than likely the majority of the outfit is going to be kept rather simple. If you wanted to throw some color into this type of outfit, we suggest it be brought in in either a tie or pocket square. Other than that the shoes and accessories should be kept to a minimal.


To achieve this, go with this dual striped shirt, with a grey two piece suit similar to this one. For shoes we suggest some dressier shoes like these black leather derby shoes. The pieces to a suit can be rather pricey. However suits are made to be worn over and over again. Also considering that they come with more than one piece you are able to mix and match them with other outfits...so all in all the prices of suits are acceptable because they are so versatile.

Well we hope that you found something of use from these tips today!..Remember that if you go with muted colors up top, try and do a brighter color for shoes. Also if you're going to do stripes for more of a dressier look, you may go with more of a subtle stripe. Meaning they are lighter in color, or the stripes are thinner (pin-stripes).

Summer Essential#1 for Men: Tanks!

     We know it's getting HOT outside and summertime is eventually coming up, so like we said yesterday, we'll be giving the fellas 3 summer essentials (in no particular order) over the next 3 weeks; and of course we'll be giving you tips/suggestions on how to wear these essentials in a few different ways. So sit back, relax, read up, and then go out and buy these items! Lol.

Summer Essential #1: Tanks

     When we say tanks, we don't mean wife-beaters, although the sun is beastin' and you might just feel like wearing one alone. The type of tank we mean has color to it or sometimes even print and is considered clothing and not an "undershirt:". So we chose 3 males (Chris Brown, Wiz Khalifa, and Ryan Gosling) that are quite fashionable and rock the tank look to show you guys examples of how to wear them.

Look 1: Tank and Cargos

     Look 1 comes from Wiz Khalifa. For his photoshoot with Dub Magazine , Wiz wore a grey tank top with black writing on it, cargo pants, and of course he had to keep it "Taylor Gang" with the red, high top chucks. He just went with some simple black sunglasses and watch to complete the look. So below we'll give you a couple tips on how to recreate the outfit, make your own, and of course cater the outfit to the weather.

     Let's start out with this Black Graphic Tank from Pacsun and pair it with these Olive Rothco Cargo Shorts. For shoes, go ahead and keep it "Taylor Gang"..lol. with a pair of Red High-Top Chuck Taylors. Instead of the sunglasses you could do these Black Framed Retro Clear Lens Glasses. Another option for the tank and cargo shorts is this White Graphic Tank and a pair of Black Cargo Shorts. For shoes, make the outfit stand out with these Yellow High-Top Chuck Taylors. Keep the glasses and you're set!

      Okay...moving right along to look number #2....Ryan Gosling wearing his tank with black slim fit/ skinny jeans.

    As seen to the left, Ryan Gosling (guy from The Notebook) is wearing a printed white/green printed tank with black skinny jeans. For shoes, he has on something similar to Toms. To recreate this outfit, start with this Bob Marley color themed tank also from Pacsun. For bottoms, instead of the black skinny jeans, try these Light Grey Chino Pants with a pair of  Charcoal Chambray Cordones - Toms. Another route you could go with the chino pants are to do this Blue Striped Ambiguous Tonti Tank with a the same chino pants except in the Taupe/Peachy color. Do a lighter pair of shoes like these Taupe/Blue Tree Block Espadrille Shoes.

 

     Last but not least, tip/look #3 comes from blog favorite, Chris Brown. He is seen in 2 different printed tanks but both are paired with denim jeans.

       In the picture on the left side, Chris Brown has on a New York Knicks fitted with a USA navy blue graphic tank. For bottoms, he just went with a pair of denim jeans and cuffed them and. As for shoes, he has on Nike Zoom Huarache Sneakers. In the picture on the right, he has on a printed navy tank representing the American flag. Again, he paired it with denim jeans and this time he went with white high top sneakers. To recreate this outfit, begin with this Printed "Freedom Ride" Tank and throw on these Grey Straight Leg Jeans. For shoes do a pair of these Nike Dunks customized with Ink Blue, Neo- Turquoise, Green Spark, and White. Hat wise you could do this Black Chicago Bulls Snapback (just a suggestion...whatever team you prefer..lol). Another alternate to the denim with the printed tank would be to do a jean jacket instead of denim jeans. Start out with this Green Graphic Tank and pair it with this Levi Jean Jacket. For pants do these Levi Tan/Khaki Carpenter Jeans and put on a pair of Ivory Vans for the shoes!

Memorial Day Weekend Tips for Men!

We're sure you all realized that this week we're going to discuss a few tips for the men for Memorial Day Weekend. Just like the post for the ladies, we're going to list of 10 must have items during your weekend. (Considering that we listed the vital items(sunscreen,sunglasses,etc.) yesterday for the ladies, we're going to give you a list of clothing items) Here we have, in no particular order, our suggestions of 10 must have clothing items for your weekend.

He has on a graphic tank; which would go great with cargos!

1. A White V-Neck T-shirt (can be worn with multiple outfits)

2.Some Cargo Shorts 

3.Graphic Tank

4.Dark Wash Jeans

5. Light Knit Cardigan (keep it light, no need for winter sweaters here)

6. Flannel Button-Up

7. Woven Fedora

8.Boat Shoes 

9. Sandals

10. Swim Trunks

As you can see you can keep it pretty simple when it comes to packing for your trip. Making sure you have at least these 10 items you should be set for the entire weekend, as well as having a bunch of options to choose from.

Now let’s get into what you can do with all of these different items!

He has on the boat shoes & a button-up

-For a simple look, we suggest that you wear some cargo shorts along with a white v-neck! For shoes you can either wear some boat shoes, or sandals.   -- -Depending on what the weather is during the weekend you may be able to throw on either the cardigan with this look or the flannel button-up. The idea is to just keep it as simple as possible, that's why we gave you a list of such simple pieces. 

-An idea for a another simple yet casual outfit, would be to put on the graphic tank, along with the dark denim jeans, throw on the sandals and your ready for a nice poolside barbecue! To jazz it up a little, so it's not too casual you can put on the fedora and call it a day. -Now, if you were wanting to go for something a little more dressed up you could throw on the dark denim jeans with the flannel button-up..roll up the sleeves (like this) and throw on the boat shoes. To top this look off put on a fedora and you're ready to go!

We suggest that as far as accessories go with these outfits you should keep it rather simple. Accessories such as a beaded bracelet or a long charm necklace.

And as far as the swim trunks go, you can throw those on, as needed!

Wednesday: Vests for Men!

As you seen yesterday, vests are quite versatile when it comes to fashion. For the men we are going to break down the different ways that you can wear these amazing pieces of clothing. Just like we normally do, we will give you the casual way to wear your vest as well as a way to dress them up! Also, to change things up a bit, today we will include more of a “hip hop” way to wear your vest.

Let’s start off with the casual side of things..Here we have Chris Brown, in this photo he is shown wearing a blue and white checkered shirt. On top of that he has on a oversized blue jean pocket vest. Contrasting with the vest he has on a pair of dark bootcut jeans, with a slight cuff at the ankle. For shoes it looks like he went with something a little more “jazzy” lol. They’re high top studded Louboutin shoes. Be sure to check the links for some alternate shoes, because those right there will definitely run up that credit card bill! All in all, for this casual look Chris kept it quite simple. The jean vest allowed for it not to be just another shirt and jeans outfit.So remember when it comes to the jean vest, keep it simple underneath…just think of it as an accessory for your outfit.

     

 Moving right along, lets look at a dressed up version of the vest. Here we have Pharrell Williams wearing a light pink button down shirt and a brown tweed-like vest. What is really making this look dressed up is the fact that he has on a navy satin tie, as well as a blue dotted pocket square. For bottoms he did some dark wash jeans. As far as shoes go, we aren't really sure what he went with. However, we're thinking he most likely did something around the lines of stacy adams. His Louis Vuiton belt and brightly colored watch add some personality to the outfit. The way that Pharrell has dressed up this vest, gives it a dressy look. However you could easily take this same vest and convert it to a casual look. Wearing it with a white v-neck, some distressed jeans, and perhaps some chuck taylor's; this vest piece is instantly converted into a casual look!

                                                

Lastly, we have a "hip-hop" look when it comes to the vest. Trey Songz has on a neutral toned puffer vest with a long sleeved thermal like shirt. For jeans he went with a distressed pair of dark wash jeans. Down to his shoes, he went with a grey pair of high top shoes. His belt as well as necklace looks as though they are both a nice chocolate brown; which pops up against that light khaki color. Although this look is more on the hip hop side of things, the neutral tones of all of his pieces allow for it to still have a touch of class.
