Swimsuits!!

Well ladies...judging from the title of the post, you can see that today's post will be about swimsuits. What about swimsuits you ask...well we thought we make this post as useful as possible and make it over the right swimsuit for your body type. We know it's hot outside and the 4th of July is coming up...so this is the perfect time to do this post so it'll give you time to purchase a swimsuit or two! So sit back, relax, take notes, and go out and buy your perfect swimsuit!

Body Type 1: Small on the top

If you are small on the top...meaning small cup size.. you can do one of these swimsuit top styles:
  •  A swimsuit top with fringe or ruffles. Fringe and ruffles with give the illusion that you have something up top.
  • A swimsuit top with a touch of padding. Maybe try one that is printed so it can take away from the look of padding.
  • A swimsuit top with under-wire or a banded bottom to give you a lift to add cleavage.
  • A swimsuit top with adjustable straps at the shoulders and or/ around the neck. You can adjust them to lift things up and add cleavage as well.
  • A bandeau top will look great as well since you have a small bust.. Find one with a little padding and a print.
Here are some swimsuit links :

Body Type 2: Full up Top

  • An under-wire swimsuit top. These tops give you support and lift just like a bra.
  • A swimsuit top with a banded halter. These type of tops give you support and coverage and can be less obvious than under-wire.
  • A thick strap halter swim top. These tops secure your chest. Thin string/straps can accentuate your top in an unflattering way, almost as if you're popping out.
  • A V-Neck One piece. These swimsuits accentuate your top half because they show off the right amount of cleavage versus covering them up and making you look really top heavy.
Here are some swimsuit links for your type of suggested swimsuits:

One-Piece Halter Swimsuit <---- Self-Tie Halter to tighten or loosen for support. V-Neck to provide cleavage.
Push-Up Banded Halter and Matching Bottoms <---- Removable padding so you wont add more up top. The banded halter is wide for added support.
Push-Up Bandeau Top and Bottoms <---- Removable padding. Under-wire to provide support.

Body Type 3: A Bit of a Tummy

  • One-Piece swimsuits with ruching are great! The ruching  camouflages whatever you have to hide and the detailing takes away from it.
  • Belted One-Piece. A belted one-piece will cinch the waist and creates a the illusion of an hourglass figure.
  •  If you want to do a two-piece swimsuit, try a tankini. The top will hide whatever you want. Make sure it's not too short or too tight because that could be unflattering.
  • Black. Black can be slimming. So try a tankini in black or a one-piece in black. With some embellishing up top to take away from the mid-section.
  • Bold florals and prints take attention away from the mid-section.
  • Vertical and diagonal stripes are best. They elongate your figure. Stay away from horizontal stripes because they can make you look wide.
Here are some suggested swimsuits:

Push -Up Halter Tankini and Bottom <---- Come in black. Tankini to cover-up mid-section. Back Detailing to take away from front.
Zebra Print Tankini <---- Bold print. Contrasted Empire Waistband to cinch in the waist.
Ruched One-Piece <---- Ruching  camouflages whatever you would like to hide and takes away from it as well.

Body Type 4: Big Bottom

  • A swimsuit with a plunging neckline. This type of one-piece will bring attention up top and balance you out.
  • A swimsuit with a darker bottom and lighter top. The darker bottom will give you a slimming effect and the lighter top will bring attention up top.
  • A Low-Cut bottom. This type of bottom can slim you down a bit versus a high-rise bottom that can ride up and give you wedgie.
  • Avoid boy shorts. The can make your bottom look bigger.
Here are some links to suggested swimsuits:

Wireless Push-Up Monokini <---- One-Piece with a plunging neckline. Jewel Trim at hips, kind of low-rise to slim the bottom.
Low-Rise Bottom and Top <---- Low-Rise to slim the bottom and you an mix the top and bottom to do a darker bottom and lighter top.
Cut-Out Ruffle Monokini <---- Plunging neckline and ruffle detailing up top to take attention from bottom. Low-rise bottom to also slim you.

Body Type 5: Lean Figure

Few things are off limits for people with lean figures. Anything goes to accentuate your lean figure or give you curves.

  • Swimsuits with horizontal stripes can make you look wider if you want to add some curves.
  • Boy-Shorts bottoms. These bottoms can make you look like you have somewhat of a booty.
  • Light colors and small prints. Since you're lean/petite you want dainty prints and colors so you are not "over-powered".
  • Ruffles and Fringe/Frills will add more volume up top, bottom, or both wherever that detailing is.
  • Regular string bikinis. These look great since you are so lean if you you want to show it off.
Here are some suggested swimsuits:

Tips Tuesdays: Fedora Hats!

This week's tip is going to be over how to wear a Fedora hat, casually and dressy of course. I know we've all seen them worn by celebrities and just normal people like you and I. We're getting style inspiration from  blog favorite, Rihanna. Throughout the post, you'll be observing what she puts with her different fedora hats and how versatile they really are!

Look 1: Casual Fedora Look

In the picture to the right Rihanna is seen wearing her fedora hat with a cow print screen tee, denim high waisted shorts, a taupe sweater wrap, and oxford shoes. As far as accessories she kept it simple. Even though she has on both a necklace and earrings, both are simple as far as "gaudiness"; the earrings are big, but the necklace is simple. This look would be considered casual, and could be worn to the mall or just a simple lunch with friends. You could even wear this on campus. We know summer is almost here and it's hot outside, so we will help you recreate the outfit to cater to the weather! :-)

Let's start with this Basketweave Fedora with Trim in the natural color from Forever21. You could pair it with this White and Black Cropped Peace Tee and Classic Cuffed Denim Shorts. For shoes you can do these pair of Grey Leatherette Wingtip Shoes. As far as accessories go, keep it simple with these Gold Twisted Hoop Earrings. Do this Gold and Multi-Colored Umbrella Charm Necklace and Gold and Coral Oval Shield Ring to give the outfit a simple pop of color.

If you wanted to make the outfit pop in the form of clothing instead of accessories you could this pair of Red, Frayed Denim Shorts. For accessories do this Silver Hinge Feather Pendant Necklace, Silver Layered Hoop Earrings, and Silver Bangles. Keep the same shoes and you're on your way!

Here Rihanna is (to the right) in another casual outfit with her fedora hat. She is wearing a printed romper with jeweled sandals and few accessories (studs, sunglasses and bracelets).

To achieve this simple look you could start with this Bronze/Black Basketweave Fedora also from Forever21. For a romper just do this Black Basic Tube Top Romper and pair it with these sandals 1 , 2 (or if you're feeling "fancy"): 3. Keep it simple with your accessories but also have fun with them. We suggest you do these Black Flower Stud Earrings out of the studs set and Wild Side Animal Print Bangles.

If you wanted to do a dressier version of this outfit you could do this Black Lace Racerback Jumper with a pair of these Black Floral Lace Heels to keep the lace theme. For accessories, pair this Black/Gold Snap Button Braided Bracelet  with a pair of Gold Chain Link Hoop Earrings.

Look 2: Dressy Fedora Look

For the dressy fedora look, we're taking inspiration from this outfit of hers with a printed bustier/corset type top tucked into a pair of cream and black polka dot shorts. For shoes, you can see she paired her outfit with nude, studded Louboutins (apparently she was feeling fancy..lol). As far as accessories go she has on gold doorknocker earrings and layered gold bangles. We're going to tell you how to get a similar look that you can be comfortable in as far as prints but we'll throw some pieces in there for you to wear if want to be "expressive" with your outfit that day! :-)

Start out with this Tan Basketweave Fedora with Floral trim  (seen worn by MBOU Candace Jordan )from Forever21. You can pair it with this Purple Ruched Chiffon Corset Top from Charlotte Russe. For bottoms you can do these Flared Floral Shorts or if you're feeling "expressive" ..lol...like we said, you can do this pair of Peach/Nude Tiered Lace Shorts. As far as shoes, both pair of shorts would look great with a pair of nude heels, whether they're Strappy, Peep Toe , or a Regular Pump! For accessories, go ahead and do like rihanna with a Large Pair of Gold Earrings and layer bangle set 1 and 2!

Hopefully we gave you some helpful tips on all the different ways you can wear your fedora hats and we hope to see you rocking similar outfits to the ones we've advised you on! :-)

Tips Tuesday: Old School Week!!

This week we thought we'd do a fun theme as far as tips. We chose the theme of incorporating an old school/retro piece in your wardrobe this week, how to do it, and examples of how to show you how. Everyone should know by now that the 90s and 80s were probably the best decades of our lives..lol. The fashion back then was really fun too. Very carefree and bright colored clothing, gaudy accessories, and yesss for the shoes! Lol..For the ladies we decided on 3 different old school pieces/looks to suggest for incorporating in your wardrobe this week: Harem pants, "The Madonna Look", and Big Reader/Geek Chic glasses.

Piece 1: Harem Pants

Harem pants were big back when McHammer came out with can't touch this, they were know as hammer pants back then. Recently, they have come back with a vengeance and are really popular amongst celebs and "regular" people like you and I. Harem pants can be very versatile as far as dressing them up and dressing them down. We will show you a casual outfit and how to achieve the same look.

Our harem pants look is brought to you by Rihanna of course! As seen in the picture she has on black harem pants paired with a black and white striped tank tucked. For shoes, she kept it simple with plain black pumps. This outfit is very SIMPLE and easy to achieve; it could even be considered casual. If you wanted to make this outfit pop, you could put on some brightly colored pumps and layer some necklaces. We're posting some links to give you a different color/version of the outfit to make it your own!

Outfit Option 1: Tan Harem Pants  , Red Cami , Smoke Leopard Heels , Bronze and Black Necklace, Black/Bronze/Gold Bangles

Outfit 2:
Grey Harem Pants, Pink and Grey Leopard Print Tank, Black Suedette Pumps, Silver Hoops, Silver Bangles , and to make the outfit pop... Bright Pink Clutch !

Piece 2: The Madonna Look

Back in the 80s the "Madonna look" was in! She was known for wearing a sheer/ lace corset type top with a layered skirt. She brought more attention to the outfit by layering a lot of pearl necklaces. If one were to try to go for this look, it would look best at a party of some type of event at night. To achieve a modern day version of this look you could pair a cute fitted skirt or even harem pants! If you do this, keep the bottoms simple. For instance, you could do a black lace corset like top with black harem pants. For accessories, of course the layered necklaces and maybe some printed or brightly colored pumps to make the outfit pop!

Outfit Option 1: Black Satin Corset, Harem Pants, Printed Pumps, and layered necklace!
Outfit Option 2: Lace Corset, Jean Jacket(roll up the sleeves , Fitted Skirt, Bright Heels, and layered chains!

Piece 3: Big Reader/ "Geek Chic Glasses"

This is one of my favorite accessories to wear. They are so versatile and can be worn with anything...if you wear them right. They can be worn with a casual outfit like distressed jeans, plain tee, and maybe some high top chucks. Here we have Leona Lewis wearing her glasses effortlessly. She wore them with a black shirt, with a black blazer over top of it. For bottoms, she wore a black and white stripped skirt and black platform heels.

So here are a few links, for some of the ever popular geek chic glasses: Option 1 and two
