vintagemahogani.: Sweaters in Winter!

And we are back! We took a little break,.....again... but we're back and we have a lot in store for the new year. With that being said we're going to start this post, with a very essential clothing item for the winter months. As you all have noticed the cold is not going anywhere, anytime soon (hopefully).. and we want to give you some looks to keep you warm and still fashionable. So continue reading and learn all about sweaters!

So today, we are going to give you three different sweater looks!

The first kind of sweater that we are going to start off with is the loose-fitting, relaxed looking sweater. These are the ones that you see girls wearing with leggins, with some form of boot on. Which means it is the perfect combination of an outfit for this weather!

For an example of a casual look we are going to take a glance at Gwen Stefani's look here to the left. She has on an over-sized yellow/lime-green sweater with cheetah print. With this sweater she has on some black leggins with a form fitting skirt over top of them. For shoes and accessories she went with, what looks like a black rain boot and some oversized sunglasses, along with an oversized cream and black purse. Overall, it seems as though she wanted to in force her look with over-sized items. The sweater, glasses, and purse and we think that it all flows together amazing!

Recreating this look, is very simple as long as you keep all of your pieces fairly simple. Start out with an oversized sweater** and place some type of shirt underneath; just because if it is oversized it may hang off the shoulder a bit. With this throw on a pair of thick sweater tights to keep your legs warm. For shoes we suggest some boots like these, or these ones; however if its in the 40's you may be able to throw on some oxfords if you're brave. You do not necessarily have to put on a skirt with this look, but if you wanted to we suggest something like this one. For accessories, throw on a scarf to keep your neck warm and a nice oversized purse to complete the look.

**You do not have to spend money on an oversized sweater, stop by your local thrift store in the mens section so that you can achieve the oversized look.

Next we're going to look at fitted sweaters, these are the type of sweaters that are seen to be more on the professional side. They normally have stripes, a v-neck and come right above your backside. Either way there are a lot of different fitted sweaters that look amazing!

Here we have Kourtney Kardashian wearing a burgundy, fitted sweatshirt/ sweater. It is embellished at the shoulders with some studs giving it a military look. She went with a dark colored jean, an over the knee black leather boot as well as a black leather bag. Overall a very simple look, and very easy to achieve.

As stated previously these are the type of sweaters that can be worn on the job. To dress this up for office attire, we suggest throwing on a blazer over the top (perhaps in a darker color to pop against the burgundy) and doing a wide leg trouser.

To recreate this look to the right, you can start with a sweater such as this, or this. Then throw on some darker colored jeans. Grab some flat black boots for the dressy-casual look. And other than that you're ready to go. For accessories, stick with a simple stud and you can always go for a scarf and gloves to keep warm.

Finally, we are going to look at the sweater dress! One of our favorite type of sweaters, because of the femininity as well as the warmth they bring. Now the first thought of a sweater dress may be a grey box like sweater, with no personality to it at all. However that does not have to be the case.

Here we have, Ms. Rihanna wearing a very adorable sweater dress. It has a nice little shape to it, and the print on it gives it some great personality. She paired this sweater with a flat white and nude colored shoe she grab an oversized nude colored tote. She kept her accessories very simple with some gold colored stud type earring, and a gold watch.

Now considering that it is freezing outside we would definitely suggest throwing on some tights underneath your sweater dress for warmth. As far as the sweater dress goes there are many different options such as this one, or maybe even this one. For accessories, again you could do a nice scarf or maybe even an oversized scarf/shawl. Shoes should be something along the lines of maybe a boot or an oxford. Just keep it simple especially if you do a bright colored dress!
