Summer Essential Tips: Special Edition

For today's post, we decided to do a special edition post for summer essentials. About 2 weeks ago, one of out supporters/followers gave us the suggestion to do a tip for all the fearless, expecting women out there. So that's just what this post will be about! For the past 2 weeks we've been giving the ladies and men tips over summer essentials. Week one was over summer dresses for the ladies and this week was over shorts for both.  For this post, we're going to give you tips and outfit suggestions on both! So sit back, relax, and enjoy! :-)

Tip 1: Dresses

Now who said being pregnant couldn't be glamorous? Dresses are one of many things that can be worn casually and dressy while one is expecting. First we're going to start out will a picture and look from Nicole Richie.

Seen to the right, Nicole Richie has on a plain black dress with a printed, sheer shawl, and black strappy heels. For accessories, she just went with a long, gold necklace and a ring on her right hand. This dress can be worn both casually and on the dressy like like Nicole did. Start with this Black Sleeveless Twist Neck Detail Dress from Motherhood. You could wear this with no cover-up since it's hot, or if there is a nice breeze outside and you get a little chilly, try this Denim Jacket and roll the sleeves up. Because the denim jacket is so versatile, you can wear this outfit with either these Black Multi-Strap Cuffed Sandals for a casual look or these Black Nautical Knotted Wedges to dress it up. For accessories, give the outfit a pop of color with this Turquoise/Brown Spirited Boho Necklace,  Turquoise Heart Studs, and Coral/Gold Cracked Stone Ring. If you wanted to do a longer black dress here is the longer black dress for more of a nighttime look, try this Black Spaghetti Strap Maxi Dress.

If you want to do a dress with some color in it, try this Fuchsia Wide Strap Dress from Old Navy-Maternity. For shoes do these Baja Woven Multi-Color Sandals. For accessories, keep it simple since there's already some color going on with these Gold Textured Hoop Earrings and just this Gold 4 Finger Knuckle Ring. To take this casual dress on a more dressy side, do these Royal Blue Pumps if you're feeling fancy and keep the same accessories.

Tip #2: Shorts

We couldn't really find any picture of pregnant celebrities in shorts, but we did find a casual outfit of a pregnant Halle Berry in denim jeans. We will show you how to recreate the outfit to cater to the weather and of course how to wear it casually, dressy, and switch the type of shorts.

As seen to the left, Halle has on a black blazer, a plain v-neck tee, and a pair of jeans. For shoes she had on a pair of grey boots. It obviously had to be fall time or spring due to all the layers, but we can tell you how to make this a summer outfit. Start with these Denim Cuff Shorts or if you wanted to do a longer pair, try these Cuffed Denim Capris. For the top you could do this V-Neck Tee in the Deep Taupe color. For shoes, try this pair of Gold Sandals and accessories do this Leopard Details Bangle Set with the Turquoise Heart Studs and Turquoise/Brown Boho Feather necklace in the tip above for dresses. If you wanted to dress the denim shorts up do the same tee in the wispy mauve color, this pair of Tan Wide T-Strap Wedges, and this Tan Button Blazer  from Emommie and cuff the sleeves. For accessories, just do a pair of Large Gold Hoops with that Leopard Details Bangle Set.

If you wanted to do a pair of cargo shorts, try these Khaki Cargos and the same tee from Gap-Maternity but in White. For shoes, keep it casual with a pair of sandals, yet make the outfit pop with this pair of Bright Royal Blue Sandals. For accessories, do this pair of Silver LOVE studs and this Silver/Pink Girl Charm Necklace and you're all set!

We hope that we gave you a few tips you can use throughout this post and we really enjoy researching and writing it. Thanks Jumesha for the suggestion! Everyone else, don't be shy. Let us know what you want to see! :-)

  1. I L O V E this POST! Once again you ladies have done an awesome job! I love how you gave options for heels or sandals! Since the feet/ankles will be swelling soon, it's nice to have options. The color splash ideas are also bomb b/c they can be worn with lots of different outfits. Love the baja woven sandals from F21. I never really want to buy too many maternity clothes, that are in "style" so it's good to have some simple pieces, like denim jackets/blazers that can be worn once the baby is born too. Thanks for the tips lady and all the research you did! Now it's time to go shopping! LOl
