Colorblock: Take 2!

Hey ladies...we're bringing you something this week that is very popular and we're sure that you've even tried it before...colorblock! We've posted about colorblock before [LINK 1 and LINK 2] but we wanted to give a refresher course on it! With that being said...let's get into today's post!

Okay so look one comes from Toya Wright looking FABULOUS in her colorblocking outfit! Although she didn't colorblock her whole outfit meaning pants, shirt, and shoes...she took  more subtle approach and we still love it!

To get a look similar to the picture on the left start with this Grey Waterfall Collar Jacket and pair this Cami in Yellow underneath. Do a pair of dark wash skinny jeans and these "Fresh Water"/Blue Jessica Simpson Pumps. For accessories, go with a pair of gold stud earrings and ring and then to this Gold/Blue Chevron Striped Necklace!

Okay...so to get a look similar to the picture on the right [with the pink shirt] ... start with this Blouse in Orange and these Pants in Green. To complete the look go with the Jessica Simpson leopard detail wedges and these Spiked Hoop Earrings.

Moving on to look 2...

Okay so if you notice the [HUGE] picture above of A.Keys in her color block outfit. She did brightly colored clothing pieces instead of accessories and it worked out perfectly.

To get a look similar to Alicia's, start with this Pink Blazer and pair this Jade Cami underneath and do this pair of White Distressed Jeans. To finish this look, try these Floral Print Sandals Heels and do gold accessories with this as well.

The last look comes from Kim Kardashian.

She's giving us a color block look more on the dressy side and we really love it! This look is extremely easy to achieve and we'll tell you how you can do something similar but take a different approach...neutral color block! Start with this White & Black Contrast Collar Blouse and do these Black High Waist Jeans. For shoes do a P.O.C. like these Fuchsia/ Bermuda Pink Jessica Simpson Pumps. As far as accessories go, just do some simple black button earrings and a really cute ROYAL BLUE bangle!

Coral Craze: Ladies Edition.

This week we are diving into the coral craze. Recently we have seen an influx of coral being worn and sold in stores, so why not make a post about the color. Now coral is one of those colors that have different tones and ranges. This goes from a very muted to a bright neon coral, and the color can be more on a pink, red, or orange tone. It is all a matter of what type of look you are going for and what you feel most comfortable in. Continue reading to get some inspiration!

First up is this cut-out dress from Rihanna. As you can see her coral is more on the muted scale and it goes quite well with her vibrant hair. It makes sense for her to go with more of a muted tone because a brighter coral would compete with her hair. This dress is very form fitting and the cut-out is something that is popular currently as well. She kept the rest of her look really, really simple with a gold chain necklace and wrist watch. To complement the look she went with a nude pointed shoe.

If you want you could purchase the exact same dress, which we found to be close to $400! But something more affordable would be this dress here. It has a similar color, cut-out sides, and the buttons in the front; along with those it is the perfect light weight material and fit for the summer. To make your look complete we suggest that you go with either a nude or leopard shoe. As well as a nice gold wrist watch, necklace, and stud earrings. If you want to add some color to this look we suggest going with a green or turquoise, which could be incorporated through accessories. There you have it something very similar to what Rih-Rih has on but yet still your own look.

Next up, we are going to look at a causal look given to us by Mrs. Lala Anthony. Her pants are where the coral color comes in, allowing us to see the orangey side of coral. She paired her pants with a graphic white tank from H&M, which really gives the pants the opportunity to stand out for this look. For shoes she went with an animal print heel, giving the look a little print. To top this look off she went with silver accessories. Like Rihanna this look is very simple, and not hard to replicate. The simplicity of the look allows the pants to really be that statement piece for the outfit and not get lost within the look.

Start out with these jeans to keep close to Lala's look. Put on either a white tank, or even a tank with a little color in it to keep the look vibrant. For shoes we suggest that you try a tribal print wedge or even a pair of chucks to make the look more casual. For accessories you could keep it similar to Lala with silver hoops, bangles, and rings

Our final look is from Kim Kardashian. She is giving us the red side of coral, as you can see it is more of the brighter of the tones. She wore a pair of high-waisted, flare-legged trousers in a nude color. The color of the pants allows the shirt to be the statement piece for this look. Keeping with muted colors, she carried a camel colored bag, and nude heels. It looks like she has on a pair of silver or gold hoops, and large sunglasses. All of which comes together to make an amazing look.

Well there you all have it, we went in depth with 3 different looks allowing you to see how to wear the color coral. We hope that you found something that you can take with you when it comes to this color. Check out the looks below to see how many different shades that coral comes in.

Summer Series 2: Prints and Colors- Animal Print

Summer Series 2 on summer prints and colors continues this week and this week we're going to give you another tip on a print that is hot for the summer....animal print. Leopard, cheetah, and zebra prints are the most popular of animal prints and can be found on a number of different clothing items. We found quite a bit of pictures of celebrities wearing animal print, so we will show them to you and tell you how to get a similar look while making it your own! So let's get started!

Cassie is seen to the below to the left wearing a blue, zebra print crop tank. She paired it with a pair of distressed, white denim jeans and a pair of blue pumps to compliment her shirt. This look is sooooo simple to achieve but we're going to show you a different option but the same concept to show you that you do not have to have the same items to get the look.
Start with this Cream/Black Relaxed Zebra Print Top for only $14.80 and pair it with these Fab Skinny Black Jeans for only $10.50, both from Forever21. Instead of doing a pair of black pumps...or typical red (nothing wrong with them though) do another color, something similar to this pair of Yellow Platform Pumps on sale for $20 at CharlotteRusse.com. For top, bottom, and shoes...that's only $45.30...a whole outfit under $50!      Now let's talk accessories! To add some more color to this outfit, try something like this Crackle Faux Stone Necklace. It has a pop of turquoise in the necklace which will stand out against the cream and black top and then stand out with the pumps. For earrings, just do a pair of studs like so....Gold/Black Rising Phoenix Studs. The rest of that necklace is gold and black so it will tie it together. Lastly...try something like this Lime/Blue Peacock Bracelet  (has a bit of turquoise and a yellow tint) to complete the look.
The whole outfit is only $61.70... Top, Bottom, Shoes, and Accessories for $61.70?! Stop Playing...that's less than one pair of jeans for guys... #Winning.

If you wanted to do a dressy outfit with an animal print top...take a look at Khloe Kardashian to the right. She just has on a leopard print blouse, black skirt, and a pair of black, peeptoe booties. For accessories, she just did a few bangles on her arm. To recreate this outfit, start with this Leopard Print Tank. Then pair it with this Knit Bandage Skirt in Olive and do a pair of nude pumps like so ----> Nude Almond-Toe Pumps (on sale for $20 at charlotterusse.com). For accessories, you could do the gold pair of hoops out of this Hoop Earring Set (3 pair for $3.80) and a unique bangle like this Gold Interlocking Metal Cuff. The total cost of this outfit is only $59.90 ...for EVERYTHING.

Moving right along to dresses...

Let's look at Fergie to the left, she has on a leopard print dress with some color in it. She layered a black jacket over it and paired it with a pair of black booties. To kind of recreate this outfit while still making it your own, start out with this Brown/Black animal print dress and pair it with Black Classic Career Blazer. For shoes, try this pair of Black Platform Pumps. Accessorize the outfit with a the same pair of gold hoops and bangle listed in the tip above. Also, do this Red Clutch/Wallet to make something with the outfit pop so it's not so bland and try to do a red lip and a smokey eye. Now the total cost of this suggested outfit is $88.70 for everything, not as low as the other tips, but there was a dress and blazer involved. Plus, blazers are so versatile and can be mixed with quite a few items in your closet so you'll get multiple use out of the items.

Okay now to move on to bottoms...

Kim Kardashian is seen to the right in a leopard print skirt paired with a black, long-sleeve turtleneck sweater. For shoes she just did a pair of black pumps. To do a similar outfit to Kim's while catering it to the weather and not doing an exact replica, start out with this Black Racerback Tank w/Pocket. Pair it with this Black/Royal Knit Zebra Skirt and something similar to the black pumps listed in Fergie's tip. For accessories, try something like this Silver Hinge Feather Necklace and a pair of simple silver studs. Then try this Textured Pyramid Bracelet...which is gold and silver allowing you to do this Cleo Bangle Set in Gold/Orange to add some more color to the outfit. The total cost of this outfit would only run you about $56.00 for ALL OF IT!

The tip above was more on the dressy side...so to do a casual look with an animal print bottom, try these Cheetah Spots Denim Shorts. Pair it with this Heather Grey/Red Run DMC crop tank  to add something else to the outfit instead of doing a plain tee and then keep it on the subtle side with this pair of Black Perforated Leatherette Loafers or you could these Cream/Black Herringbone Flats. For accessories, do something simple like a pair of gold hoops and then a bangle like this Gold Snake Chain Bracelet. Depending on what pair of shoes you get, this outfit would cost $66.00-$68.00 for all the items listed for it

Well ladies....we hope we gave you some helpful tips on how to incorporate some animal print in your wardrobe in a few ways and pairing it with things that you would think of. Feel free to leave us a few comments and questions. Let us know if you would like us to keep doing total outfit cost for the suggested looks we give you. We love feedback..so we can make the blog better for you! :-)
