Michael Monday

For Motivational Monday today...we 're turning it into Michael Monday. 3 years ago today, the King of Pop Michael Jackson passed. We were/are huge fans of his artistic craft and definitely his philanthropy. He was not only a universal music icon, but an icon in general. He perfected his craft and that's what we admired most about him and we plan to perfect our craft as he did!

There will NEVER be another even close....RIP Michael!

By the way if you haven't seen this [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OiVsZ6df0r4 ] already, check out VintageMahogani.'s take of "Billie Jean" ...Skip to 1:39!  : -)

Bold Prints: Men's Edition

Hey Fellas, its rare that we see you all in bold prints...but when we do it is well appreciated depending on how it is done. Today we want to look at how some men have accomplished a bold print in some outfits. Continue reading to see how you can do so as well!

Today we are going to go from a loud print, to moderate, to subtle. Giving you men the ability to pull together a look based upon how comfortable you are with taking a risk.

First up, we will check out a look from Chris Brown. Here is has on a pair of Billionaire Boys Club Ice Cream Printed Shorts. They are no longer available (unless through e-bay) however he is showing you how a bold print is done. Considering that the shorts are loud enough he did not need to go overboard with a printed top, rather a gray graphic tank did the trick for this casual look. His red hat, black shoes, and watch all complement the the look, and add to this outfit.

Recreating this would not take much at all. Of course you would start out with a bold printed pant or short, which is your main part of the look. Then you would look for a tank/tee to mend well with your shorts but not clash against the bold print, just keep it as simple as possible. For shoes, and accessories we suggest going with a solid color so that you are not taking away from the print of the shorts. Throw on a snap back for a pop of color and you are ready to go!

All in all this is more of a casual look, that you would wear hanging out with your friends or family..we wouldn't want to see you wearing this on a first date. =\

Now if you are talking first date potential, depending on where you are taking them..Mr. Pharrell's look would be one that we think you should consider. He is seen here in a bold printed blazer! Although the print is pretty bold, the colors of the blazer allow for this print to really work. He paired this with a white button-up and black bow tie, along with some black jeans it looks like. We are not sure on the shoe selection but we think that a black dress shoe would really go well with this look. Finally he has a slight pop of color on his wrist with his watch. Nothing too extreme but just enough that still allows the attention to be on the blazer.

For yourself, make sure you have that statement piece for this look which is the top/blazer. Now blazers are already expensive in a solid color, so added some print to it is only going to hike up the price. We suggest that before you spend your hard earned summer money on a over-priced blazer; that you stop by your local thrift store to see what they have. You never know they may have exactly what you are looking for, with a very affordable price tag. Moving right along, with your blazer all you need is a nice pair of slacks, a button up w/ a bow-tie, some dress shoes and you are ready to go. To make this look a little more casual, all you would need to do is throw on a dark pair of jeans, a pair of laced boots or oxfords, and some geek-chic glasses and you are complete. Oh yeah don't forget your watch for a pop of color, and save the bow-tie for the red carpet affairs.

For our final bold print, which is done in a very subtle way is given to us by Scott Disick. As you can see he has on a bold printed, polka-dot tie. Along  with the tie, he has on a lavender button-up, a white blazer, and a pair of magenta slacks. All of which complement the tie very well, in the sense that the print given to us here is very subtle..so the bold colors in the outfit do not take away from the print of the tie. What can you expect from Scott though, he really takes risks when it comes to his fashion selections. Feeling inspired by Scott, check out some of the ties below and take a jab at putting together a bold printed look.

Check out these bold printed ties: one, two, & three.

There you go fellas, our idea of bold prints for you and how you can go about trying them out.
Till next time...

Bold Prints: Ladies Edition

Well Ladies, as you all know we have recently seen an influx of bold prints and patterns worn by the celebrity women. So what we want to do today is look at a few looks, and give you some ideas on how you can simply incorporate bold patterns into your wardrobe! So continue reading to learn a thing or 2!

First up, Ms. Emily B! She is known to wear some pretty bold prints and we figured we start this post out with her. Here she is seen with a pink accented, black & white printed top. She tied in the front giving it a casual look. It looks like she has on either some black leggings or a really dark pair of jeans. Either way, it goes great with the top. Adding to the boldness of the look, Emily threw on a pair of silver geometric designed earrings..along with a unique knuckle ring.

Now for yourself, you can start out with the exact same shirt if you would like. However if you want to make this look your own try a different shirt, such as this one. To ensure that your shirt is going to be somewhat of a looser fit, we suggest getting a size bigger than you normally wear. Also if you want to leave a few buttons undone at the top, be sure to throw on a solid color bandeau! For bottoms we think that you should do a jean short, or some black skinny jeans..depending on the look you are going for. For shoes, throw on a wedge to complement a casual girly look. Try some bold earrings and a knuckle ring to reference back to Emily's look.
Very simple and not hard to achieve, at all!

Next up we are going to look at a pair of bold printed shorts given to us by Solange. Seen here she has on a stripped loose fitting button-up, tucked in to a high waisted pair of red printed shorts. Her necklace makes a big enough statement, making earrings unnecessary. Also, considering that the shorts are bold there is really no need for her to over-do her look with a bunch of accessories (i.e. rings, bangles..). We are not really sure what shoes she went with but they look to be a cream/white color.

Want something similar? Well most importantly you need a bold pair of shorts, such as these or these. From there it doesn't take much. Either you can match them back with a solid color top to keep it simple..or you can take a risk and grab a top with some stripes. Referencing Solange, we suggest that you go with a nice statement necklace. Don't like the necklace? Well a nice pair of vintage earrings would look great with both pair of shorts. For shoes we think that flat or heeled sandals would go great depending on the occasion.

Lastly we wanted to dive into the bold printed dresses&jumpsuits. Below we have Evelyn, Emily (again), and Teairra Mari all in the same print proving that the bold print is really in style right now. While Evelyn and Teairra Mari both have on the middi-dress version, Emily has on the jumpsuit version. As you know dresses are not hard to style at all because all you need is your shoes and accessories and you are ready to go.

**btw both the dress and jumpsuit are from ASOS.com
Check out these bold printed dresses: one, two, three

&jumpsuits: one, two, three, and four

As you can see ASOS.com really sells some amazing bold prints.

There you have it Ladies! Bold Prints at their best, hopefully you got something from the post..and as we say constantly, if you are unsure how to put together a look with a bold piece, keep it simple!
Till next time.

Colorblock!

Well you all know we had to give you our interpretations of Color block for the week! So check out the photos and tell us what you think.

Angie went with a coral stripped turtle-neck crop tank. Sheesh that's a mouth full! Along with that she wore a printed head scarf, large brown shades, her white watch, and large silver pearl studs.

For bottoms she went with thrifted blue stirrup pants. Which pop against the coral tank. Her shoe selection was her turquoise Jessica Simpsons!

She kept her color block look rather simple, yet chic. Her shoes and accessories match back to the colors that she selected for her clothes.

For accessories Vonnie went with large gold hoops, a woven fedora, and a turquoise skinny belt to add some extra color. On her wrist she wore a lilac watch, and two rings on her fingers. All of which add a little extra to the otherwise simple look. Clothing wise she did a ribbed lime green tank, with a high-waist orange pencil skirt.
& for shoes she went with some white tennis shoes, making the look a casual one.

Well there you have it folks, our interpretation of Color block! Stay tuned soon for a tutorial on how to do your color block looks, effectively...continue down for more photos!

Colorblock for Men: Take 2!

Hey fellas...sorry about the post being late but better late than never right? This week we're posting about color block and giving you  few ideas on how to incorporate it in your wardrobe. We've posted about this subject matter before [LINK 1LINK 2] , but now we're doing a bit of a refresher course. With that being said...let's hop into today's post!

If you look at the picture to the left you'll notice color blocking for men in a casual sense. These men on the runway have quite bright colors on but you don't have to really do the exact same. Start with something subtle...for instance:

Do this Soft Mustard Yellow V-Neck with these Blue Chino Pants...cuff them... then for shoes you can do something like these Light Brown Sperry's and a nice watch or even this Green Sailor Knot Bracelet for more of a color blocking effect. There you have it...a simple/casual, color- blocking outfit!
Okay fellas....look to the right.. I know you're thinking "what are we supposed to be looking at?". This black and white picture is for color blocking inspiration! Color block can be achieved with simple, neutral colors like black, white, and gray! For example:
Start with these Black Chino Shorts and pair it with a plain, Grey v-neck. Then for shoes you throw on a pair of these White Sneakers. To complete the look go with this Black G-Shock Watch and you're all set!

Moving on to the last look....a brighter, dressy-casual color block look.

Here we have stylist Brad Goreski in a great color block look that we really love!! He paired a royal blue blazer with a pink button up and yellow pants...then he tied it all together with a black belt/accessories.

To get a look similar to Brad's, start with this Brown Tweed Modern Cut Blazer and pair this Red/Coral Solid Dress Shirt underneath and then do this pair of Mustard/Yellow Pants. Tie the outfit all together with brown meaning brown belt, oxford shoes, and watch!

Well fellas...that's all we have for today. If there's any questions or comments you may have, feel free to leave them, we love feedback!

Colorblock: Take 2!

Hey ladies...we're bringing you something this week that is very popular and we're sure that you've even tried it before...colorblock! We've posted about colorblock before [LINK 1 and LINK 2] but we wanted to give a refresher course on it! With that being said...let's get into today's post!

Okay so look one comes from Toya Wright looking FABULOUS in her colorblocking outfit! Although she didn't colorblock her whole outfit meaning pants, shirt, and shoes...she took  more subtle approach and we still love it!

To get a look similar to the picture on the left start with this Grey Waterfall Collar Jacket and pair this Cami in Yellow underneath. Do a pair of dark wash skinny jeans and these "Fresh Water"/Blue Jessica Simpson Pumps. For accessories, go with a pair of gold stud earrings and ring and then to this Gold/Blue Chevron Striped Necklace!

Okay...so to get a look similar to the picture on the right [with the pink shirt] ... start with this Blouse in Orange and these Pants in Green. To complete the look go with the Jessica Simpson leopard detail wedges and these Spiked Hoop Earrings.

Moving on to look 2...

Okay so if you notice the [HUGE] picture above of A.Keys in her color block outfit. She did brightly colored clothing pieces instead of accessories and it worked out perfectly.

To get a look similar to Alicia's, start with this Pink Blazer and pair this Jade Cami underneath and do this pair of White Distressed Jeans. To finish this look, try these Floral Print Sandals Heels and do gold accessories with this as well.

The last look comes from Kim Kardashian.

She's giving us a color block look more on the dressy side and we really love it! This look is extremely easy to achieve and we'll tell you how you can do something similar but take a different approach...neutral color block! Start with this White & Black Contrast Collar Blouse and do these Black High Waist Jeans. For shoes do a P.O.C. like these Fuchsia/ Bermuda Pink Jessica Simpson Pumps. As far as accessories go, just do some simple black button earrings and a really cute ROYAL BLUE bangle!

color block nailsVince Camuto Bracelet, Black And White Color Block BangleWell ladies...that's all we have for today...tune in for some color blocking inspiration on Friday and you can look below and to the left and right for a few other color blocking ideas!

Coral Craze!

For Vonnie's "Coral Craze" look she incorporated the color

in her wardrobe through lightweight, long sleeve cardigan.

For the rest of her outfit she did a white tank, turquoise

distressed jeans [cuffed], & beige Steve Madden pumps.

For accessories she did a leopard skinny belt, gold radio

necklace, a few rings, and a royal blue watch!

#CORALCRAZE

For Angie's #CoralCraze look she went a coral lightweight graphic sweatshirt, high-waisted distressed

denim shorts, and gray tennis shoes. As far as accessories, she just did a pair of silver button earrings, a

printed scarf, and a white watch.

XOXO VintageMahogani.
