Men's Summer Series 2: Colors&Prints: Yellow

Considering that we gave the ladies some tips on how to wear the color orange, we wanted to give the men a bright color as well. So with that being said, we went with the color yellow for y'all! It's one of those colors that go unnoticed in the store, but once someone is wearing it they grab everyone's attention....Today we want to give you a few ways to wear this color, as well as what other colors it looks good with. We're going to look at how the celebs wore the color, and the links for similar pieces will be embedded within the celebrity descriptions.

Let's start off with looking at this picture of Robert Pattinson. You can definitely see that he has on a yellow button up with a white-tee underneath, and for pants he went with all black as well as for his shoes. This is what we would considering the layering effect. Instead of just wearing the button-up by it's self, he layered the white-tee underneath giving his outfit some depth. For a summer look, try a white tank underneath the button-up, and some khaki colored cargo shorts instead of pants.

Now if you look to Lance Gross he did something very similar. He took his yellow, G-Star Highbury Knit Cardigan (here's a light knit cardigan, it's too hot for the one he has on) and also went with a white-tee underneath. As you can see he went for a layering effect as well. It looks like for pants he went with a khaki colored pant. Not so sure about his shoes though, and I'm sure you can see that he has on sunglasses, a large chain, as well as his wristwatch. Which coming from our opinion is overdressing the outfit a little much; just because he already has on the color yellow, he doesn't really need much more than that. Remember when it's hot like it is now, you don't want to do anything too heavy on your body...you'll be ready to fall out. So for a similar Lance look, try a white graphic tank, with a light knit sweater over top. For bottoms, try some khaki shorts instead.

So we suggest, when attempting the layering look with the color yellow, keep the accessories either to a minimal or none at all as Mr.Pattinson did.

Moving right along to, Mr.Carter. Looks like he has on some type of yellow tee that has black graphics on it. (From this angle, it looks like it's his face on the shirt...but we digress lol) For jeans, he went with a light washed pair of distressed denim. He has on the classic black chuck taylors, as well as a black beanie on his head. His accessories go as far as a bandanna hanging from his right pocket, a black belt, and some finger-less all black gloves. Overall, it looks like he was going for the punk-rock/skater-boy look. A look that is seen all over the place, all throughout the year and is really quite simple to achieve. Just think grunge and distress, when it comes to shopping for pieces. To keep it cooler in the summer, try a yellow tank, with some jean shorts, or camo cargo shorts instead of the jeans. It'll create the same skater-look, but it'll keep you cool!

Last, but not least let's look at Ne-Yo and how he wore the color. His outfit screams summer-time so we figured we'd finish off with him. He's wearing a very muted shade of yellow on a button-up shirt. Very similar to Mr. Pattinson's, only different is Ne-yo made this his only shirt, vs. Robert's being a layered look so he had on multiple. He went with a plaid printed, khaki short for his bottoms, and for shoes he has on some olive-green colored shoes..similar to vans (maybe they are vans...who knows?) As far as his accessories go, he has on a small simple wrist watch, some sunny's and a woven fedora

From our perspective, the outfit is not bad...it's just not our favorite so we're going to give you some suggestions on how to improve it. First, how about doing a solid colored khaki short, instead of the plaid. The plaid is alright in some cases, but in this situation it looks a little outdated. The shoes are fine, but we suggest that you either not do socks with the shorts, or get the lower cut socks. It'll give you a cleaner look. Other than that the outfit is okay..This outfit/picture seems as though it may be from a years back so we wanted to be sure to update it just a little so that we have you out there looking your best! ;)

We think that the best colors that yellow look good with...include those that are close in color range with it. Such as a khaki color, or olive. However, if you really want to make the color pop/stand out try wearing it with black like Lil' Wayne did. If you look at his outfit, the yellow really makes a statement and works well with the black. On the other side of the color scale, white really works great with yellow too. To prove this, go back up and check out Lance and Robert's outfits again. The white makes the yellow look brighter, when worn together.
Yellow with : khaki, olive, black, and white

So, in general we suggest when wearing yellow or any bright color for that matter, keep the rest of the outfit quite simple. This will allow the color to stand out, because too many accessories or colors along with it, can create a disaster.

Hope you enjoyed it...now go throw on some yellow, if you follow these tips, there's no way you can go wrong! Leave us a little comment, and don't forget to follow, thanks!
